2015 finishes on a high. With every end is a new beginning and Team Ward are set to fire in 2016

It has been an impressive year end for our team with more racing success; including an Australian title, further Worlds qualifications, age group wins, podiums and most importantly personal bests. It’s always inspiring to see so many outstanding performances and personal achievements so well done to you all. We have just come home from another sensational week in the Snowy Mountains which has given everyone some solid base training and motivation to kickstart another big year of training and racing ahead.

Key highlights;

  • Snowys Training Camp- It is always a highlight to end the year on top of Australia and start the new year with challenging, quality training. We had another incredible week for our annual Snowys Camp which was based out of beautiful Jindabyne in the pristine Snowy Mountains. It was an absolute blast- with an awesome crew of 18 athletes, challenging swim, bike and run training up to Mt Kosciousko and it’s stunning surrounds, stacks of social fun and beautiful weather- we couldn’t have asked for a better week. This year we were fortunate to have Bec Hoschke join us as a guest coach and provide the group with lots of expert advice, encouragement and support. Thanks Bec!
  • Taupo 70.3- Great racing by Thomas who nailed another personal best time and well done Coxy on 3rd place at Sydney Sprint Series
  • Ironman WA- Ironman racing is all about the individual journey of personal achievement, and everyone's story is inspirational. We had 5 athletes racing IMWA this year in windy, wet and cold conditions. Our 2 first timers Justin and Joe both had superb races and our 2nd timers were just amazing- Ben (30min PB), Ray (35min PB), Sam (47min PB)!! We are so proud of your efforts.

  • Western Sydney 70.3- Well done to our guys and girls who raced strong in the scorching heat out at Penrith. Nic P had another blinder, with a 5min PB and cracking 5hrs for the first time! She was 7th in a very competitive age group. Laura had a tough day but still managed 4th place. Jeff and Tim both had solid races.
  • Ironman Malaysia- Huge Congrats to Andy who came 8th in the super tough sweltering conditions. Unfortunately he was just one spot shy of that elusive Kona slot (only 5mins off).  We are still really stoked for your achievement.

End of October

  • Port Macquarie 70.3- Port Mac is always a tough course so the results were awesome for our team of 9 athletes. With the standouts being an Age Group win, Australian title and Worlds Qualification from Loz, another Top 5 and a solid PB from Nic P, a 37min PB from Justin and a number of other big improvements from the rest of the crew.
  • Some great races also from our girls in Yarrawonga with a 2nd place for Suze and at Noosa Olympic Coxy, Ellie and Rod raced strong.

2016 is definitely shaping up to be another great year with lots of big races, quality group sessions, challenging events and camps on the agenda.
