April-June Update- Good things don't come to those who wait. They come to those who work their butts off and never give up!

As usual it’s been an action packed few months with loads of racing, group sessions and events, and as always we have witnessed many spectacular performances with numerous Worlds qualifications, race wins and some podiums along the way- the Team never disappoint.  It’s also been an exciting time with many celebrations for babies, weddings and engagements.

Key Highlights

June

* Cairns 70.3- We had 3 of our newbies race in some wet and wild conditions. Justin came home in 5.13- a huge 27min PB in his second 70.3 race and only his second triathlon. Chris 5.33- and a 40min PB with only a short bout of training under his belt and is now focussed on his Kona IM prep. Sam stormed home in 5.47 in his first 70.3 race with an awesome swim/bike combo and a hugely improved run!

* NSW CCC Schools Cross Country- Young gun Pat continues to improve and against a quality field ran a PB of 28 minutes to come home 6th overall. He has now qualified for State!! Excellent effort.

* Race Across America (RAAM)- Huge shout out to JA and her all Aussie team (the Veloroos) who have been the first 4 person female team over the finish line of the 4828km time trial across the USA breaking the Under 50, female record for RAAM. Thanks to crew member Ben for all the updates.

* It’s great to be running some Winter Tri specific Strength and Technique Swim Sessions with our Sydney crew- Winter pain equals summer gains!

May

* Ironman Australia, Port Macquarie- Overall it was a highly successful day for Team Ward. Highlights were Kev with 8th in AG and 9.59, First timer Ben (the smiling assassin) in 10.34, and first local girl Sami was next home in 11.35, 16th in her AG and an impressive 1hr2mins faster than her first attempt in 2014!. Congrats also to Macca who showed typical grit and determination to finish in 13.40 and Andre who stuck out a tough day to finish in 15.32.  I reckon we definitely had the best support crew out there too!

* Busso 70.3- Congrats to Thomas on a smashing PB of 4.41 at Busso. Thomas also secured a World Champs 70.3 place for Austria in August this year.

* NSW Zone Schools Cross Country- Pat won his Zone Cross Country by over 2minutes-another great result.

* NSW Club Champs- We had 7 racing for Balmoral, Coogee and Warringah. Well done to our Coogee athletes who came home with the win in Division 2! Not a goal race for any of the crew but a great hit out to blow out some cobwebs and provide some training motivation for the winter months ahead. Other news- Coaches Corner

In other news our coaches have been busy building on their experience and qualifications.  Nic spent an incredible week in May at the AIS in Canberra, completing her Triathlon Australia Performance Coaching Course and Level 2 qualifications, learning from some of Australia’s and the world’s best leading coaches and sports science specialists.  Bern is currently completing his Level 1 Road and Track Cycling Coaching course and is pretty lucky to be amongst some Olympic cyclists and have Brad McGee as one of the presenters.  Laura continues to balance her own training with full time PE work, whilst she is also completing her Masters, as well researching the latest in performance improvements.
