August & September Update- Worlds wrap, start of the Oz Tri season, and our inaugural Tour De Canberra training camp

It’s been another jam packed couple of months with the run season coming to a close and the triathlon season kicking into full swing.  The major highlight these past few months has been the success of our Worlds athletes who had stellar races and did us all so proud against the best in the world at Edmonton ITU Olympic and Sprint distance events, as well as the Mont Tremblant 70.3 World Championships, both in Canada. Well done- Pat (Sprint), Dave L & Rachel (Olympic), JA & Jo (70.3). This is just the start of a great season of racing ahead for each of you.

In September, we had a crew of 11 athletes who headed to the first of the Australian Long Course races at Sunshine Coast 70.3; with two top 5 finishes, a Worlds Qualification, numerous personal bests and some sensational first time efforts it couldn't have been a more perfect day!

Over the October Long Weekend we had a hugely successful Tour De Canberra training camp.

The group of 20 athletes endured 3 days of challenging training; with over 250km+ of riding in the hilly terrain in and around Canberra, running around Lake Burley Griffin, and the pool all to ourselves at the Australian Defence Force Academy for a quality swim session. Guest speaker Alicia Edge from Compeat Nutrition, provided an informative session with some excellent general and race nutrition tips (as used by Australia's top AIS athletes), and we couldn't have asked for more brilliant weather. Awesome efforts by everyone and it was great to have such a fun group. This is another camp to add to the annual camp calendar!

Laura has been busy up in Port Macquarie and is building a nice little group of athletes. As a PE teacher and coach Laura is passionate about getting adolescents active, as well as developing adults to achieve their potential and is already achieving some fantastic results :)

Below are some further race highlights and a few more photos of the crew in action.

It’s so inspiring for us as coaches to see the hard work in training leading to continuous personal best improvements and so many podium finishes. The team continues to grow and we can’t wait to see what lies ahead for the rest of the season.  Next stop is Port Macquarie 70.3 this weekend where we have another big group racing! Keep up the fantastic work!
